In liminal Yevgeniya Kaganovich and Jenniffer Gutowski attempt to convey a hypered experience, an agitated state and a sense of profound longing. This project utilizes the ephemeral nature of projected images onto tentative or provisional objects. Specific video projections incorporate repetitive and trifling actions that evoke a state where reason and language become transcendent and ultimately fail. Objects that dissolve into images and images that bleed into objects achieve the tension between the physical movements and the ephemeral stillness. Pervading the space is a conglomeration of spectral sounds that emphasize and enhance the cyclical nature of the projections. In capturing and portraying dualities such as positive and negative, presence and absence, physical and ephemeral, the artists attempt to put the viewer in a hypnotic liminal state.
